The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Daraa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Nashat Al-Rifai, along with the chamber’s board members, extended their deepest gratitude and appreciation to Mr. Qutaiba Badawi, Head of the General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs, for his significant visit to Daraa Governorate, during which he inspected the construction site of the new Daraa Al-Balad crossing on the Jordanian border. They pointed out that Mr. Badawi’s visit reflects a high level of institutional commitment and continuous follow-up to activate the committee formed for the reconstruction and relocation of the Daraa-Ramtha crossing between Syria and Jordan. This project aims to introduce a modern design and advanced location, securing an upgraded infrastructure that aligns with future requirements and enhances the efficiency of border services and procedures.Furthermore, the Chairman of the Chamber, Mr. Nashat Al-Rifai, emphasized that establishing an integrated, state-of-the-art border crossing that befits Syria yields substantial economic benefits for the country. It will also positively impact the residents of Daraa Governorate by generating numerous job opportunities, while significantly reducing travel time, effort, and costs due to the close geographical proximity between Daraa and Ramtha. This is particularly vital given the deep-rooted cross-border family ties between the two regions. Moreover, the crossing will support a robust trade exchange that achieves mutual economic benefits and revitalizes a large sector of local taxi drivers (known as "Al-Bahara") who transport Syrian goods daily in reasonable quantities, thereby securing a steady source of income and livelihood for thousands of families in Daraa. The Chamber's Chairman and board members also extended their sincere thanks to the Governor of Daraa, Mr. Anwar Al-Zoubi, for his dedicated attention and follow-up regarding the reopening of the historical crossing in coordination with the Customs and Border Crossings Authority, in response to urgent public demands. They expressed hope that these collective efforts will culminate in putting the new crossing into service as swiftly as possible
