With the aim of empowering the national industry and increasing its local and export competitiveness, Mr. Manhal Al-Fares, Director-General of the Authority for Support and Development of Local Production and Exports, received a delegation from the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry. The delegation was headed by Dr. Mazen Deirwan, Chairman of the Federation, and included board members Mr. Osama Al-Omar and Mr. Iyad Beitanjaneh, along with the Federation's Director, Mr. Khaldoun Dado, in the presence of representatives from the Authority.Discussions were held on the following crucial topics regarding the reduction of production process costs:Abolishing the turn-assignment office (Maktab Al-Dour) and cargo transfers for trucks at land border crossings.Canceling customs duties on raw materials, semi-finished goods, and production inputs.Lowering energy carrier prices in line with global and neighboring countries' prices.Reducing participation fees for domestic and international exhibitions to further encourage participation, market products, and discover new external markets, alongside proposing a specialized exhibition for all Syrian industries and inviting importers from all over the world.Activating the issuance of the Preferential Certificate of Origin (Eur 1) for Syrian products exported to Europe via land and air ports.Activating the Registered Exporter system (REX) to facilitate exports and obtain additional customs exemptions for importing countries.Allowing the import and export of recyclable waste paper, cardboard, scrap plastic, and scrap iron for use in local industries in accordance with appropriate technical and environmental regulations.At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to follow up on these matters by addressing the relevant authorities through official correspondence and holding meetings to reach solutions
