The Syrian Telecom Company explained that the Vibernet service for houses is based on the principle of participation, but different from the principle of participation in the service of "ADSL".
The sales manager in the company Ayham Dalloul told the radio "Melody", that the principle of participation in the fibernet will be on the gate and not the package, and the proportion of participation if the maximum number of subscriptions is used up to 1/4 at the peak, and will be affected in this case the speed of uploading files (Upload ) Only to be between 2.5 - 3 Mbit / s if you subscribe at 8 Mbit / s for example, without being affected by the download speed (Dounload) which will remain 8 Mbit / s.
In the case of ADSL, sharing is on the packet and not on the gate, according to Dalloul, and the impact is on UPLOAD and Dounload speeds at peak.
The Syrian Telecom Company explained recently that the ADSL service available in Syria is participatory, so it is natural to weaken the speed in case of increasing the number of subscribers belonging to the call center and entering the service simultaneously.
The ADSL subscriber shares the speed bundle with 8 other subscribers at peak times. Off-peak subscribers can benefit from the full speed required, ie the ADSL subscriber ratio is 1/8 of the bandwidth.
The sales manager of the telecommunications company, Ayham Dalloul, confirmed that the company will launch within the month of fiber-optic home service within five governorates of Latakia, Hama, Homs, Aleppo and Sweida, and some areas of Damascus such as Mezzeh Highway, Eastern Villas, Al-Maliki and Migrants.
He pointed out that the initial equipment for the service is located in the regions and governorates mentioned, note that the service will include the rest of the regions after the completion of procedures in 2020.
Regarding the costs of the Viber Net service, Dalloul said that the installation fees are 9,000 Syrian pounds paid once, and the equipment is a special router only cost between 20 thousand and 25 thousand pounds, and the company is seeking to install the price for citizens with the monthly bill.
The sales manager added that the minimum speeds in the home fiber service is 8 Mbit / s for 14,800 LBP per month, and in the future will be added several services for the service of fiber such as voice telephone services, and value-added services such as IPtv services.
The telecommunications company currently has about 400 home Viber applications, and within a month will be secured, according to Dalloul assertions, adding that the service features "high quality in data transfer and high efficiency and not affected by external factors."
The telecommunications confirmed July 2019 that the cost of civil works for the domestic fibernet service is approximately 250 million pounds, in the provinces that prepare to receive the service, allowing the delivery of Internet to homes via optical cable at high speeds ranging from 8 to 16 megabytes.
The prices of home fibernet service are 14,800 liras for the speed of 8 megabytes, and 17,800 liras for the speed of 10 megabytes, while the speed of 16 megabytes is priced at 32,800 liras per month.The installation fees are 9 thousand liras, including a light connection for 20 meters, according to a previous statement from the company.
Ayman Hammouyah, technical director of the company, did not deny recently that fiber prices are not suitable for all segments, revealing a future intention to reduce speeds to 2 megabytes to make their prices suitable, stressing that the home fiber will replace "ADSL" in several years.
The use of fibernet in Syria began in 2015, which means connectivity over the Internet via fiber optics at very high speeds instead of copper networks, targeting economic activities, industrial cities, universities, government institutions and small and large enterprises.
The Syrian Telecom has previously set the prices of fiber-oriented companies and economic events, so that the monthly subscription speeds of 20 megabits 82 thousand pounds, while the subscription speed 100 megabytes registered 273 thousand pounds, with a one-time subscription fee of 250 thousand pounds.
